First Code Entrepreneur (Age 15+)

In our First Code Entrepreneur course, students build on their foundation of web & mobile applications, and engage in design thinking process, solve problems for local non-profit organizations. By going into a local NGO to discover needs, students design and code the solution to their target users as the final project.

Application Development

Students in the Entrepreneur program build on the programming knowledge from Explorer or Creator level programming. In the Entrepreneur course, students design solutions for a problem encountered by non-profit organizations (NGOs) that is both logical and creative. Our core AppJamming curriculum introduces fundamental computer science concepts along side with development of mobile apps. Students will then be equipped with the skills required to transform their idea to a working prototype.

Design Thinking

"Design thinking is a human-centered approach to innovation that draws from the designer's toolkit to integrate the needs of people, the possibilities of technology, and the requirements for business success." — Tim Brown, president and CEO of IDEO

Design thinking is a process for unlocking innovation that has become an essential tool in business today. Utilizing the methodology that involves putting the user's needs first, problem solvers start to deeply understand and empathize with the user, and learn to prototype quickly to gain insights for possible solutions.

Solving Real World Problems

Students dive into a set of real life problems, using the framework of design thinking to tackle the problems. This course teaches the process and tools of human-centered design involving hands-on group projects. Students also practice speaking to real users, learning how to gain insights from users and prototype solutions.
