Michelle believes every person should be empowered to use technology to express themselves and bring their ideas to life. She started First Code Academy to provide hands-on learning opportunities in software development in Asia. Michelle held various roles in high growth startups in Silicon Valley, including Buffer, a tool that helps people share smarter on social media and Bump Technologies (acquired by Google in 2013). Previously, she attended the inaugural class of Hackbright Academy, an intensive program in San Francisco on software development. Born and raised in Hong Kong, she graduated from University of Chicago and began her career at Goldman Sachs.
"Every day at First Code I work on a variety of different tasks including product development, teacher training, parent communication, and of course, teaching! I feel incredibly lucky to be able to combine my passion in technology and the endless inspiration from the kids we teach. When I’m not at office, you can likely find me trying out new recipes in my kitchen, reading a book or doing TRX in a park."
